Holmlea is a cosy, sandstone cottage c. 1840, nestled in a quiet, pretty little road in the friendly village of Freuchie, in North East Fife. With light, spacious, high-ceilinged rooms, Holmlea has an arty, vintage style, and is a welcoming, comfortable and relaxing space. There is free parking in the road opposite the cottage, and a large, free car park 25m away. Most of our guests tell us they feel instantly at home on arrival, and many don't want to leave!
Holmlea has many original features, and a beautiful cream Jotul stove with Delft tiling is a focal point, with sweet little insect illustrations.
The cottage is filled with original artworks as we are an artistic family, and some are available for sale.
Outside, although there is not a garden, there is a pretty white bench where you can sit out in the sun, and also a small back doorstep area where you can take out a couple of chairs and a wee table.
The large bedroom has a comfortable kingsize bed, and the sofa bed in the living room is also very comfortable and almost kingsize, so we can accommodate four guests. For chillier nights, there is a lovely fleecy dual control electric blanket - with this as well as the log burning stove, easily adjustable central heating, and cosy woollen blankets, you will be as warm as toast! The bedding is 100% cotton and sheets and pillowcases are 200 thread count.
The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom has a great shower over a bath.
There is antique and up cycled furniture throughout the cottage, and many attractive touches - this is not your average holiday let :)
There is a 32 " TV, on which you can access Netflix, Prime, Freeview and many other apps. There is a strong wifi connection.
Please note that although the cottage is all on one level, there is one step up at the front door and three at the back.
You will have full and private access to all of the cottage, plus the small seating area outside the back door, and the bench at the side of the cottage. There is a good sized grassy area at the side, which is a public access area, but is little used other than the neighbour's access to their garage.
You may need to reverse a short distance out of the road as there isn't much space to turn. If you are a dodgy reverser like me, you may want to park in the large, free car park 25 m from the front door - there is loads of space.
